To understand what makes Great Jakes different, you have to know the backgrounds of its founders. Dion and Robert Algeri (who, by the way, are brothers) are both experienced entrepreneurs who’ve founded a number of companies — including a technology company that was sold to internet giant CMGI in 2000. Their diverse business experiences allow them to provide clients with a kind of practical, cost-effective marketing advice that is hard to find at any price.

About Dion Algeri

From strategy to execution, Dion is responsible for managing client projects. He is one of those rare personalities that can match his creative expertise in writing, technology and design with tremendous business acumen.

He began his career as an independent graphic designer in the magazine world, working for some of the industry’s most beautiful and successful publications, including InStyle, Vogue and Playboy. His clients also included accounting giant Coopers & Lybrand and the advertising firm Young & Rubicam. In 1997, with Internet mania in full swing, Dion turned his attention to the Web and founded Net For All, a website design and consulting firm. Dion then joined forces with his brother Robert and created Shortbuzz, an online entertainment venture that they sold to Internet giant CMGI. Dion is also a co-founder of Omnipod, an Internet technology company that was acquired by MessageLabs in 2005.

Dion has lectured widely, including presenting to MIT’s Communication Forum and Columbia University’s Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO). He is a member of the Channel Thirteen / WNET Advisory Board.

About Robert Algeri

Robert is responsible for all aspects of business development and operations at Great Jakes. However, his primary responsibility is to ensure that Great Jakes consistently exceeds the expectations of its clients.

Robert honed his business management skills in the entertainment industry as a line producer (a sort of COO) of feature films. In that role, he regularly managed multi-million dollar production budgets for companies such as Paramount Pictures, Fox Searchlight, HBO, Michael Jackson Productions, Warner Brothers and NBC. Prior to founding Great Jakes Marketing Company, Robert co-founded Shortbuzz.com, an online entertainment company that he sold to CMGI, a large Internet holding company.

Robert currently sits on the Steering Committee of the Business Development Network, a highly selective group of business professionals. Additionally, he has held various board positions at the New York Legal Marketing Association, including Information Officer.
